Our penultimate wedding of 2014 took us back to the St Ives Harbour Hotel for the Christmas wedding of Danielle & James, who had travelled from Surrey with over 50 family and friends for their celebrations.
The butterflies were everywhere. Butterfly confetti; butterfly hairgrips; butterfly cake decorations; butterfly motifs. By the way, Danielle (or James) – take a look at http://www.inkywool.co.uk/ – we think you’ll love it. And purple – gorgeous deep vibrant purple – the chair covers; Zoe’s maid of honour dress; the cake; even the baubles on the Christmas tree matched perfectly, and all complementing Danielle’s spectacular ivory gown and bouquet of winter lilies. It was all elegantly and effortlessly stylish.
The beautiful bride – who insists she isn’t photogenic(!) – was attended by her sister Zoe, daughters Eden & Lola and niece Macy, and they all looked stunning. The young ones were looking a little daunted by the cameras but Dawn immediately worked her magic – she just encouraged them to put bunny ears on and they suddenly relaxed!
As the girls walked down the aisle, Groom James – until then very chilled and composed – found his emotions taking over, and when Danielle joined them he was definitely reaching for the Kleenex! The wedding music was provided beautifully by brother and sister duo Will & Fi – throughout the ceremony and up until the speeches – with Will on guitar and Fi adding stunning vocals.
Although the winter sun had long since disappeared from Porthminster Beach, we still managed a quick Bride & Groom shoot in the fading light. It was a bit chilly, but who cares – the sun was lighting up St Ives in the background, and we couldn’t resist it before heading back to the hotel for the speeches. Which were only held up for a few minutes by the father of the bride finishing his cigarette and drink on the terrace while soaking up the views.
After the Bride & Groom had completed the cake-cutting, bouquet-throwing and executing the all-important first dance, we headed for the exit, leaving the photography duties to Andrew & Karen with their ‘Canny Camera’ Photo Booth. With props aplenty everyone was having great fun having their pictures taken and recording their wishes along with portraits in the book.
We had a really lovely time at the wedding – a super couple with a lovely family deserve all the luck, health and happiness for the future. We hope they enjoy these first few images from the day, and have a wonderful Christmas as Mr & Mrs Grieve. With love, Dawn & David xx
