And so we come to the final wedding of a busy and successful 2014. Fittingly the St Ives Harbour Hotel was the venue – it is almost our second home these days and we are proud of our association with the hotel and the fantastic team there. We are delighted to cover more weddings there than any of the other great photographers in Cornwall, and it is by far our most frequently visited venue.
So, to the wedding. Teri & Jonathan are a lovely (and exceptionally handsome) couple from Wales, who enjoy frequent visits to St Ives. Jonathan and his family have been coming to St Ives since his childhood, and now own property here. The family’s building business has even been known to travel all the way from Wales for work! So the links are strong, and it was the only place for Teri & Jon to be joined together in matrimony as Mr & Mrs Lowndes.
Teri was looking radiant, glowing with beauty and excitement. When the wedding was booked they hadn’t exactly planned for Teri to be seven months pregnant on the day, but she coped brilliantly, and I’m sure many of the mothers (including Dawn!) were a wee bit jealous of how petite and elegant the bride still managed to look less than 12 weeks away from giving birth.
The groom (the best-dressed builder we’ve ever met) was, or at least appeared, calm and relaxed, exuding laid-back charm throughout the day. As his bride came down the aisle with her proud father, Jon’s anticipation and joy was evident to everyone in the room. At the end of the service Teri raised Jon’s arm triumphantly into the air as they were pronounced man and wife.
After the bride and groom had the opportunity to greet their family and friends on the terrace (where else in the country could you say that on the 2oth December?!) we headed to Porthminster Beach for a few minutes of calm. It is always a lovely moment for the bride and groom to get away from the crowd and be alone on the beach. Well, apart from the two photographers and the gathered crowd watching from the hotel!
Thank you to Teri & Jon for asking us to capture their special day. As promised we have selected some images before Christmas (just!) and we hope they are enjoyed by everyone. We wish you a wonderful Christmas, and a happy and healthy 2015, when two will become three in the Lowndes household. With lots of love, Dawn & David xx
