Friday 29th May was the date for Claire & Mike’s wedding in St Ives and what a perfect day it was. After a few damp and grey weddings recently it’s fantastic to see the unique colours of St Ives bursting into life again, and with no need to dodge showers to make it down to the beach.

Nevertheless, we still needed to change our planned beach shoot from the afternoon to the evening, after our stunning bride Claire kept her groom waiting a while before becoming Mrs Fletcher. The delay was partly down to Dinah, the lovely ‘Moggy’ Minor that Claire had found via the Morris Minor Owners’ Club, which took a bit longer than expected to ferry sons Charley & Will, bridesmaids Karen & Natalie, and then the bride and her father across town from their holiday home to the St Ives Harbour Hotel. But it was also partly due to Claire needing a few minutes to collect herself after seeing her boys, sister and niece walk down the aisle. The harpist did a splendid job of stretching out her planned piece of music!

After the ceremony there was time for the children and grown-ups to enjoy the late May sunshine on the terrace and lawns before heading in to the wedding breakfast. After four very confident and touching speeches from the father of the bride, groom and Best Men, Dave & Simon, we headed off to Porthminster Beach. It was great to see Charley & Will running across the sand to Mum & Dad after we spent a few minutes alone with Claire & Mike. And we were then joined by plenty of other guests who made the most of the evening walk from the hotel.

Back at the hotel talented musician and singer Kaj kicked off the evening for the bride and groom’s first dance, soon after which we departed, but not before sampling the evening buffet (thank you, Claire & Mike). Here are our first picks out of the edit, and we hope they capture the enjoyment of the day. With love, Dawn & David xx

ps. Good luck to Claire’s sister Karen, who will be marrying her partner John in around ten weeks time, when the whole family can do it all over again!
