Last Saturday we were delighted to head to the fantastic Alverton in Truro for Tamsyn & Harvey’s wedding day. This is a venue we haven’t shot many weddings at, and we’d love to do more. It really is a magical setting – the Great Hall is simply stunning, the grounds and gardens are beautiful and – just as importantly – the team there are all thoroughly professional and exceptionally friendly. It really makes a difference; trust us.

As a result the day went like clockwork. Tamsyn and Harvey – a lovely young couple from nearby Par – were both feeling the nerves when we joined them. In fact, I think we nearly freaked Tamsyn out when we arrived at her door – it all suddenly became very daunting! But Harvey had friend Darren and brother Jamie to look after him, whilst bride Tamsyn was attended by sisters Jenna & Katie, cousin Ellie and maid of honour Lindsay. Not forgetting the beautiful Lia – Harvey’s younger sister who stole the show with her wonderful reading during the ceremony – fully memorised and beautifully performed. When I asked her later how long it took her to learn she responded that ‘she was just practising it and learned it by accident’! Aaaaaw.

Once the guests had mingled thoroughly and enjoyed some delicious looking canapes and Cornish Bucks Fizz (apple juice & Champagne), the weather was threatening to turn damp on us so we whisked the bride and groom off for a few shots in the lovely grounds. The greenery made a nice change from beaches for us, with the fresh June leaves on the trees providing a beautiful shaded canopy, the light filtering through to produce some really lovely light and colours.

After the wedding breakfast the Great Hall was transformed for the third time in the day for the evening reception, when the group of 60 swelled to around 140 for the evening festivities. The entertainment was provided by a couple of great singers (The Swing Kings) who sing over backing tracks. We hadn’t seen them before but were really impressed – a nice combination of live music and a disco, and they didn’t take long to get the dancefloor rocking.

Thank you to Tamsyn and Harvey for asking us to capture their day. We had great fun, and we wish them a long and deliriously happy life together. Here are the first images we’ve pulled out to give a flavour of the day. With love, Dawn & David xx
