As October arrived with a week of wall-to-wall sunshine, Becki & Rob tied the knot at the St Ives Harbour Hotel. For once we weren’t anxiously watching the weather forecast and the brollies safely stayed at home. This was the Indian Summer we’d been hoping for, and St Ives looked at its stunning best.
Unusually for us, we only met this lovely Bride and Groom a couple of days before the wedding. We always like to get to know our wedding couples before the day to ensure they are as relaxed as possible in front of the cameras. But these two are so friendly we only needed an hour to feel like we’d known them for years.
Bride Becki was in the throes of having her hair done when we arrived, with the couple’s three children all remarkably well behaved and patiently sitting on the sofa. Eldest son Ashton was quietly nervous as he had the big responsibility of escorting his Mum down the aisle and giving her away. Daughter Lana looked serene and beautiful in her bridesmaid dress. And youngest son Joshua was slightly overawed by the occasion and refused to give us a smile.
Down in the Harbour Suite, Groom Rob was waiting for his beautiful Bride with Best Man Stuart, and momentarily looked just slightly anxious. But his big grin soon returned as Becki entered the room on Ashton’s arm, following bridesmaid Julie along with Lana and Joshua. Half an hour later the gathered family and friends welcomed the new Mr & Mrs Jones with drinks on the terrace, and shortly after we made our way down to Porthminster Beach.
We always love to give the newlyweds the chance to escape the party for a few quiet moments on the beach to relax together. On this occasion it was also a chance for the children to have a play and burn off some energy. The colours showed off autumnal St Ives at its very best, and with the benefit of a mostly deserted beach to ourselves.
Back at the hotel, after cutting the cake (Amanda from Cakes by Design excelled herself as usual with a fantastic beach-inspired creation), the Bride & groom were welcomed back by their guests as they took their seats for the wedding breakfast. This was a half-day wedding for us, so we left the group to the rest of the day’s celebrations. Although we’d only known Becki & Rob for a matter of a few hours we felt we left as friends, which is always a lovely feeling.
We hope they love the first photos of the day, now back home in Staffordshire, and that they rekindle wonderful memories of their day in the sun. With lots of love, Dawn & David xx
