What a wonderful day Claire & Rich enjoyed last Sunday as they became Mr & Mrs Green at the Harbour Hotel in St Ives. It was a day full of colour, joy and emotion.

The sea mist was still rolling across the bay as we arrived at the hotel, but the sun was beginning to shine through and give us a glimpse of a lovely warm day to come. Claire’s experience of many family holidays in St Ives had convinced her it would most definitely rain on the big day, so she couldn’t believe her luck as the clouds stayed away and the sun shone. The crowds had flocked to St Ives for the first day of the Whitsun break and the beach was full of holidaymakers, putting everyone in the summer spirit.

The brightness of the day was matched by the groomsmen and bridesmaids. The bridesmaids wore short silver-grey dresses, topped off with brightly coloured bouquets and colour-co-ordinated accessories – a flower in the hair, a ribbon on the bouquet, shoes, and for later,  sunglasses and flip-flops. One blue, one yellow, one purple, one pink and one orange. The boys followed the theme with their grey suits, with colour co-ordinating ties, handkerchiefs and socks for the three best men and usher. They all did their jobs brilliantly but special mention must go to chief bridesmaid and bride’s sister, Faye. She has to be the most attentive bridesmaid we’ve ever encountered, constantly looking out for Claire’s dress, hair and make-up and ensuring she looked her best.

There were many tear-jerking moments on this special day. The moment Claire’s father, Ray, entered the room to see his beautiful daughter as a bride (“I’m a bride!” exclaimed Claire). He was momentarily left speechless as he gathered himself while Claire crumpled and threatened to spoil her just-applied make-up. Then, during the ceremony, one of the readings was a special message written by Claire to her new husband. More hankies needed (in fact the registrar, who comes prepared for these moments, exhausted his supply on this day). And later, during the speeches there were tears of laughter and joy as Ray recalled stories of Claire, and then had to recompose himself as he wished his daughter and new son-in-law as much joy from their future family as he had experienced with his.

All-in-all this was a pretty perfect day, and the joy and love of the bride and groom shone as brightly as the sun. We hope our pictures of the day capture some of that joy and give Claire & Rich many years of happy memories. It was our genuine pleasure to be there for their day. With love, Dawn & David xx
