Now Bank Holiday Monday usually equals cloud, rain and cool temperatures for the hoardes of expectant visitors to St Ives. But not this Bank Holiday Monday, which turned out to be one of wall-to-wall sunshine for Fay & Darren’s wedding at the Tregenna Castle Hotel. The wedding party were as bright as the day, with cerise pink dresses for the bridesmaids and cravats for the boys, complemented by multi-coloured bouquets. There seems to be a trend towards bright multi-coloured weddings this year, a departure from the pastel shades popular in previous years.

Bride Fay, looking radiant and stunning in her beautiful sequinned strapless gown, was attended by Carrie and Michelle along with daughter Scarlet, who was finding the day a bit overwhelming as the girls gathered in the bridal suite. When we caught up with the boys, groom Darren was looking his usual chilled self, planning his speech and getting plenty of advice from his Ushers – mostly what to leave out! He heeded only some of their advice.

The best thing about Tregenna weddings in great weather is the opportunity to hold the ceremony in the open air underneath the Pavilion. And so Fay and Darren took their vows in front of a hundred or so guests who had travelled from far and wide for the day. The majority were from London and surrounding areas, but some from further afield – including Best Man James who had travelled from Virginia, USA with his young family to perform his duties.

After the ceremony the party continued on the lawns and then moved in for the speeches and wedding breakfast. Before the evening reception started we headed for Carbis Bay beach with the bride and groom for a few moments of peace in the early evening sunshine. These are always special moments for the newlyweds to share, breathe in the sea air and reflect on their day together. Then back to the evening reception. We left soon after the first dance, but with the party already in full swing. We hope everyone enjoyed the rest of the evening and there weren’t too many sore heads the morning after. Here is our first selection of images from the day. We hope Fay and Darren love them, and that the memories of the day live long in their hearts. Best wishes, Dawn & David xx
