For the third wedding of our busy Whitsun week we were back to the St Ives Harbour Hotel, where Clare & Rob were celebrating their big day with their two boys, Sam and Will and around 70 family and friends. And the weather was great yet again!!
Clare had obviously foreseen a warm day with lots of sunshine when she chose her dress and she was spot on – a floaty organza gown that was perfect for a beautiful summer day. Groom, Rob and his best man, Philip wore dark blue suits, but it was Sam and Will who stole the show with their matching grey shorts, braces and trilby hats. After the ceremony and drinks on the terrace we headed off with the new Mr & Mrs Matthews to The Island to mark their new status with some intimate photos. Our time there was somewhat shorter than planned as a bus had inconveniently broken down in the middle of St Ives, bringing the traffic to a dead halt in every direction. Luckily our smart driver James, from the hotel, navigated his way through the problem expertly and delivered us to Porthgwidden with enough time for a quick walk with the happy couple. We usually head to one of the beaches for these shoots, but Whitsun week and good weather is a recipe for beaches full to overflowing, so The Island offered a nice and slightly more peaceful alternative. And the breeze that had picked up during the day made the most of Clare’s beautiful flowing gown.
Having delivered the bride and groom back to the hotel in the nick of time, we left them to enjoy their wedding breakfast, followed by speeches. We returned for the evening, with the children’s entertainment and funky VW photobooth in full swing, before the evening reception began with the cutting of the cake and then the bride & groom’s first dance. As an added bonus, we were kindly invited to stay for the evening BBQ buffet before leaving the party. We hope Clare & Rob enjoy this first selection of photos from the day and get years of pleasure from the memories they bring back. There will be lots more to enjoy in a few weeks time. With love, Dawn & David x
