We love an outdoor wedding in the magnificent setting of the Tregenna Castle resort overlooking St Ives. And what a lovely afternoon we had there with Sarah & Steve on Thursday 1st June.

As is usually the case with weddings planned outdoors there’s a nervous wait until the Registrars confirm that they are happy to undertake the ceremony under the Pavilion. Whilst rain is obviously a problem, on this occasion it was the rather gusty wind that was potentially the cause of a move indoors. Luckily our friend Charlie at Tregenna plied Jackie the Registrar with coffee and she approved the outdoor wedding, much to Sarah and Steve’s delight. The view back up to the Castle as the bridesmaids and then the bride on her father’s arm make their way down to the Pavilion is quite breathtaking. Bridesmaids Tanya, Katy & Lisa and then Sarah’s daughter Bela made their way slowly down, and Steve’s Best Man and brother, Dan, placed a comforting hand on his younger brother’s shoulder as Sarah approached her groom.

After the nuptials were complete and the guests were fed and watered with some delicious-looking canapés we snuck off with the bride and groom to the beautiful walled garden and then down to the woodland, and the pretty bridge over the stream which winds it’s way through the grounds on its way to Carbis Bay. We are so lucky to have wedding venues such as Tregenna Castle. Where else can you have a wedding with amazing views, gardens, woodland, and only a few minutes from stunning beaches? Which is where we headed after the speeches and wedding breakfast.

It was six years since Steve proposed to Sarah at St Nicholas Chapel on The Island, and the wedding was originally planned for before their daughter Grace, now 3, made their family complete. So a trip back there in the early evening was a must-have for the couple’s wedding day. These moments of calm away from the party are so important to let the bride and groom reflect on their day, and after enjoying the views from the Chapel we headed down to Porthgwidden Beach, the setting sun just beginning to give us the golden glow of the evening. After returning to Tregenna there was just time for a few more shots by the Pavilion before we slipped off to let the party begin.

We had great fun with Sarah & Steve, and although we were only with them for four hours we sure packed a lot in! We hope they love these first images from their very special day, as they continue their family holiday in St Ives. With all our love and best wishes, Dawn & David x
