Yesterday we had the pleasure of joining Andrea & Mark at the St Ives Harbour Hotel as they tied the knot to become Mr & Mrs Gardner. Unusually, we started our day on the beach, seeing Mark arrive with his son and Best Man, Warwick and grandsons Ollie & Charlie on Blue Thunder, one of the fast RIBs that usually spends its days whizzing holidaymakers around the bay on pleasure trips.

Having safely landed on Porthminster Beach we headed up to the hotel, where guests were arriving to welcome drinks and canapés and being entertained by a great male voice choir called Eight in a Bar. Although there were around 12 in the group they apparently decided not to change their name when their numbers grew!

The choir then moved into the ceremony room to serenade the guests as they awaited the bride, and then sung Andrea down the aisle to join her husband-to-be, accompanied by her sister, Joanne. After the ceremony, which was punctuated by two moving readings and a further piece by the choir, we moved out to the terrace where the bride and groom were showered with confetti before gathering with their 50 guests (and three dogs) for the group photo.

Then it was shoes off, flip flops on and down to the beach, where the party got under way at the Beach Bar. We briefly stole the bride and groom for a stroll along the shoreline and then headed back to meet up with the rest of the party. With several young children in the group happily amusing themselves with games on the beach, the adults got on with the serious matter of ordering drinks, and checking up on the World Cup semi-final cricket score. With a party made up primarily of Midlanders but with a smattering of New Zealanders, there were no tears shed for Australia’s heavy defeat at the hands of the English!

We then left Andrea & Mark with their guests to head back to the hotel, where we quickly grabbed a few shots of the cakes (sweet and cheese) and the sweets (for children and dogs). As we departed the barbecue was already smelling good, ready for the arrival of the party back at the hotel.

We hope Andrea & Mark enjoyed the remainder of their wedding day, and continue to enjoy their break in St Ives. Here are the first images from the day, which we hope manage to capture their future memories. With love, Dawn & David xx
